About Michele

My passion is sharing the authentic tastes & history of Italy with you.

Who We Are

I’ve always been captivated by the way food connects people to a place, and I’ve made it my mission to guide you on a flavorful (and educational!) journey through this magical island I’m lucky enough to call a home away from home. My husband Ettore, a Capri native, and I have built a life that revolves around the island’s natural beauty, its vibrant culture, and, of course, its extraordinary food. His boutique hotel offers a serene escape, while my focus is all about diving into the heart and soul of Capri through its culinary delights and historical treasures.

A Bit of My History

My culinary path began when I attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. It was during my internship at Le Cirque in NYC that I fell in love with fine dining, which inspired me to continue learning and working in some of the city’s top restaurants, including Montrachet, Tribeca Grill, and Aureole.

Eager to deepen my knowledge, I left New York for Italy to immerse myself in Italian gastronomy and culture. I staged at a small restaurant in Labico, Italy under chef Antonello Colonna, and soon after, I traveled with him and his team to work in his Capri restaurant. It was during this time that I met Ettore, and our shared love for food and travel led us to bounce between the States and Italy, gaining even more experience along the way.

Eventually, Ettore and I married in Capri, and we began managing a small hotel he owned on the island called La Tosca. Over the next 30 years, we raised our family while running the hotel and building lasting relationships with local guides, boat companies, and restaurants, many of whom are lifelong friends of Ettore’s.

Throughout this time, I never stopped working with food—whether hosting private dinners or teaching cooking classes at local venues. Now, I’m excited to share my passion and knowledge with you.
